This year's Artie Century ride was a huge success.  Thank you to all of the riders who came out.  Dispite rain before the start, the majority of the riders enjoyed clear skys then a little light rain just when it was needed, during the last miles. A special thank you also to all of the many volunteers without who's help the ride would not be possible.

The Artie Levin Century Ride travels through some very scenic sections of south west Virginia. Check out some of the pictures showing riders as they pass by the majestic vistas near Denmark, through the Bratton Mountains, along the Maury River at Goshen Pass, and straight through historic downtown Lexington.

The ride map can be found here.  The route included three milage options, the 50 mile Short Hills Mountain Loop, the 70 mile Big House/Little House Mountain Loop, and the 100 mile Goshen Pass Loop.

We were fortunate to have Artie's daughter on hand to help us pay honor to one of our most distinguished past club members, Artie Levin, also known as “Mr. Fitness.” Artie taught us the importance of keeping physically fit throughout our entire life.

Photographs were taken and donated by club member John Hamill. Click on the thumbnail pictures for the full size view.

Don't miss the Artie Levin Century next year.  If you could not be with us for the 2006 ride, read our testimonials and see what you missed.

“Dick and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the Artie ride Sunday!  Weather could not have been better, rest stops were great, support was perfect!  We rode with a couple from Lexington and a gentleman from Virginia Beach.  Everyone raved about what a fantastic beautiful, fun ride it is.

Please pass along to all who worked and helped with Artie this year our positive experience.”

“Just want you to know what a great time we had riding the Artie yesterday.  Terri did the 70 mile ride and I rode the Century.  Kudos to all the volunteers and sponsors for a job well done.  Without a doubt, the Artie is my favorite century ride.  It has everything a cyclist could want:

-great organization
- beautiful route
- dedicated club members/volunteers

Thanks for a job well done. “

- Reid from Roanoke Virginia

“I did the ride and it was my first century even though I’ve been riding 10 years. It was a very well planned ride and I enjoyed it. (Except for the rain and who can plan for that. L) Thanks for putting the ride on.”

- Bill from Roanoke

"SSMMMOOOTTHHHH as silk.  Mary was top-notch at Goshen and Suzie was flawless in Lexington.........and I am not the least bit surprised.  Two sweet ladies!

Truly, you and your crew did an exemplary job and made us all very proud to be BRBC members.  I dare say Artie was pleased as well!"
